Review Salaam Namaste:

The pair Vishal-Shekhar (DUS fame) are back with a bang with the music for Salaam Namaste. This album has all the masala to make a successful music album in today's day and age. Foot tapping music, trendy use of the punjabi language and A-List singers. There are 4 tracks in this album along with a couple of remixes, an English version of one of the songs and an instrumental. So all in a blast for Generation X. Mind you this is not an album for the traditionalist classical types.

1. Title Song Salaam Namaste(Kunal Ganjanwala & Vasundhara Das)- This sure chart topper is a good combination of techno and bhangra music. A fun song to listen to.

2. My Dil goes Mmmmmm - Both Shaan & Gayatri Iyer impress in this sweet Hinglish song. A very catchy english version of this song by Shaan and Caralisa Monteiro (DUS fame).

3. Whats Goin On (Kunal Ganjanwala & Sunidhi Chauhan)- This conversational song's music has catchy beats.

4. Tu Jahaan(Sonu Nigam & Mahalaxmi Iyer) - After doing a fantastic job with the fun filled track the duo has kind of missed the bus with this romantic song (the only song in the movie without a hip hop background). The beats overpower and you wish it were a quieter song to convey the romance. On the positive side  the classical background chorus is used to great effect

The credits for this album are
Music Vishal Shekhar
Lyrics: Jaideep Sahni
Singers: Kunal Ganjanwala & Vasundhara Das,Shaan & Gayatri Iyer, Sunidhi Chauhan,Sonu Nigam & Mahalaxmi Iyer
Producer: Yashraj Films
Director: Sidharth Anand (HUM TUM screenplay Fame)
Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Tania Zaetta

The great thing about this album is the rediscovery of Kunal Ganjanwala(Bheege Honta Tere). I am glad that he has not just stayed a one song wonder and broke the stereotype with Kaal Dhamala and now Salaam Namaste.

Bottom Line:  This is a trendy youth savy album. This is one CD/cassette you wont regret owning and playing on long drives. You are sure to have fun both with the music and the lyrics. That is : If you are a fan of techno music and remixes.
