Indian Medical Association of New England (IMANE) hosted ‘2005 Inaugural Charity Gala’ at Carling-Sorenson Center of Arts, Babson College, Wellesley, MA on July 16th.  The program was organized to generate funds to support IMANE’s charitable projects and entertain the guests.  The entertainment program produced in collaboration with AASRA was attraction of the evening.

For many years the IMANE has been sponsoring and participating in many charitable projects.  Leaders of these programs had an opportunity to present their initiatives and seek resources for their projects.  IMANE sponsors free health clinic at the Immanuel United Methodist Church, which provides free basic medical care to poor, underserved and uninsured patients.  IMANE organizes health fairs and day medical camps to help medically underserved. IMANE sponsors many other charitable projects including prevention of spousal abuse.

The evening began with a networking reception and a sumptuous dinner. Apurva Gupta and Anu Bandopadhaya did a wonderful job as MCs for the program. Local super stars Neethi Kannan and Tapas Ghosh energized the audience by singing a great collection of songs.  Sridevi Thirumalai  along with her students presented a classical Bharatnatyam piece.  Violin mastreo Tara Anand  along with her students and Mahlingam on mridangam mesmerized the audience with classical voilin rendition.  Krina Shah, Preetu Dhaka and Esha Bawa  choreographed Indian dances. The program concluded with a  Bhangra performance leaving the audience asking for more.

Dr. Purnima Sangal thanked all the participants and supporters for making the event successful. More information about IMANE and its projects can be found at http://www.imanemd.org/.
