In a surprise move, Milan Restaurant, Lounge and Banquet Facility, which closed its restaurant effective June 26th, plan to close all its doors including the lounge effective July 15.

Whether you were seeking a fine restaurant, a fun-filled entertainment lounge, or a beautiful banquet facility, you found it all at the Milan, centrally located on Route 9 West in Shrewsbury. Originating from a Hindi word meaning "to meet," Milan offered cuisines from both classical Indian and Italian culinary traditions.

In the adjoining, multi-leveled banquet facility, three large, well-appointed function rooms were reserved for either business or personal gatherings, including multicultural-style weddings. In a special arrangement with the adjacent Days Inn, accommodations were available at preferred rates. The restaurant has hosted several family events. Be it a graduation, brithday or an anniversary Milan was a popular choice for many families.

Milan always made it a point to help host community events. For owners Verinder and Nisha Bawa and their three children, it was a sad end to their three years of dream and serving the Indian-American community. "We have enjoyed serving the community for the past several years. We had to make some difficult choices. For personal and family reasons this choice was the right one for us."

During this time the hosted various fund raising events by IDRF, Thrive, and other non-profit organizations; concerts by Manisha Savla and others; and numerous wedding, birthday and graduation celebrations.
