Taj Mahal - An Eternal Love Story, the enduring love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal is producer-writer-director Akbar Khan's magnum opus. Zulfi Sayed, Kabir Bedi, Manisha Koirala, Kim Sharma, Pooja Batra and Arbaaz Khan star in the film, which apparently cost Rs.50 Crores to make.

None other than the great musical whiz Naushad has directed the music for the film that boasts Naqsh Lyallpuris and Syed Gulrez's lyrics.
The tracks are all eminently enjoyable, some hark back to times bygone when melody ruled the roost in Bollywood songs.
Hariharan is perhaps the most suited Bollywood background singer to render soulful Ghazals, hence it is a pleasure to hear him in Apni Zulfein and Ajnabi Thehro Zara. The latter is duet with Preeti Uttam, who complements Hariharan's voice perfectly.
The quawali IshqKi Dastaan is sung by a tinny sounding Kavitha Krishnamurthy and Preeti Uttam. Harifharan and Preeti come together again for Mumtaz Tujhe Dekha and Dilruba Dilruba, both pleasant tunes.

Ajoy Chakraborthy's Yeh Kaun Mujhe is easily the best track in the album. A pure classical number, it begs repeated listening.

The theme track Tareef E Meena Bazaar also impresses with its unique musical interpretations.
The album is being marketed and distributed by Times Music in tandem with the home label Mashreq Music.
At the albums release, Akbar Khan was quoted as saying , "With the power of his spell binding music, Naushad has managed to recreate the magic of the bygone era, perfectly complimenting the mood of the film."
A wheel chair bound Naushad who was present at the event, said "I have strived to deliver the kind of music that Akbar Khan had in mind, melody being the chief focus. I have composed music for other films of the Mughal era including 'Shah Jehan', 'Baiju Bawra' and 'Mughal e Azam' but each film requires different treatment depending on the situation and theme, hence I refuse to be drawn into comparisons.
