IITAGNE: Annual Picnic, 3D Printing Workshop And UnIITy Walk/Hike
Press Release 10/10/2026
1. Annual Picnic
On a wonderfully warm fall day, Saturday, September 12, more than 80 IITAGNE members and their families gathered for our annual picnic. It was a wonderful opportunity to renew friendships, make new friends and enjoy the camaraderie of the IIT alumni community.
Everyone enjoyed the food, starting with appetizers, followed by a lavish lunch and dessert.
The highlight of the event was Antakshari, where participants sang with great enthusiasm and gusto.
Making its debut at this year's picnic was Bollywood Bingo. A few participants managed to identify most of the Bollywood clues, while everyone else enjoyed the game, even if they didn't get every answer right!
We were delighted to welcome many first-time attendees and hope to see them again at future events, alongside our regular participants.
Mark your calendars for the 2027 annual picnic: Saturday, September 11, 2027!
2. 3D Printing Workshop
IITAGNE members Roopesh Mathur, Alkesh Shah, Bala Balsubramaniam and Vivek Badani led a 3D printing workshop on October 3 in Nashua with assistance from members of FTC Team Tesseract, a FIRST Robotics team. The workshop was held in collaboration with IAGB and Evergreen Adult Day.
Roopesh Mathur did an excellent job leading the workshop. He covered the basics of 3D printing, including how it works, where it is used and its potential for the future. He also explained how the technology meets everyday needs, advances science and transforms manufacturing.
Participants began by printing basic shapes to become familiar with the process. They then learned how to download CAD models from Thingiverse and design their own shapes using Tinkercad. Every student printed at least three shapes.
Participants also learned the fundamentals of 3D design and printing, watched live demonstrations and experienced firsthand how technology can transform imagination into reality. It was especially inspiring to see both young people and adults enthusiastically participating, learning and showcasing their 3D-printed creations.
Participants ranged from middle school students to lifelong learners in their 70s, demonstrating that curiosity and a passion for learning have no age limits!
3. IITBHF UnIITy Walk/Hike
On Sunday, October 4, the IITBHF Boston Chapter gathered at Mary Cummings Park in Burlington, MA, for the UnIITy Hike, a morning of walking, conversation and fall foliage beneath a beautiful New England sky.
Alumni, family members and friends, all sporting caps celebrating 25 years of IITBAA, enjoyed the peak fall colors, caught up with one another and watched a remote-control helicopter or two buzz across the meadow.
It was a wonderful reminder that building community doesn't always require a formal agenda. Sometimes, all it takes is showing up and spending time together.
