In my ancestor’s Memory -A Pitru Paksha Tribute

During Pitru Paksha, I fold my hands in prayer
And search for my ancestors in the quiet evening air
Though years have passed, their memories remain
Like gentle drops of rain after a summer rain
I miss their voices, their warmth, their loving embrace
Yet feel their blessings in every familiar place

They gave their children more than words can say
Their love was our shelter, guiding us every day
Through sacrifice and service, they showed us the way
Giving without asking what would come their way
Their dreams were woven into the lives they raised
And every small kindness deserves to be praised

They opened their hearts beyond their own home
For family, friends, and all who came to roam
Their hands were always ready to serve and share
Their presence brought comfort, compassion and care
In every gathering, their kindness could be seen
And their love for the community remained serene

People knew their names, remembered their grace
And welcomed them warmly in every place
They served not for honor, recognition or fame
But because helping others was part of their name
Their community work became a lasting light
A legacy of service that still shines bright

Mother, I remember your tenderness each day
The little things you did in your quiet way
Father, I remember your strength and your care
The wisdom you offered, the burdens you would bear
Together you taught us, through all that you gave
That a meaningful life is one lived to serve

Now I offer Tarpan with श्रद्धा in my heart
A prayer of gratitude for the lives that you impart
The water I offer carries love, not sorrow alone
For your values and blessings have become our own
Though I cannot see you, I feel you all near me
In every cherished memory I hold so dear

May your souls rest peacefully in divine light
May your blessings guide us from morning to night
We will carry your goodness wherever we go
And keep alive the values you helped us to know
You gave your love to family and community too
