On Friday, September 18th we kick-off with the multi- lingual minithon, a series of original short plays written, directed and produced by members of the Greater Boston thespian community. Each work represents a unique voice from the culturally diverse immigrant community here and is a first-time we bring together such a diversity of languages in theater.
On 19th September, Saturday we have 5 plays- powerful work from Chicago ( Hindi), New Jersey ( English ) along with Off- Kendrik's own productions of a kids' and adult plays respectively. Off- Kendrik plays focus on topics that deeply affect the broader community. The Kids- Kendrik plays focus on the environment. Off- Kendrik's own production is a searing anti- war play from Badal Sircar directed by Chandan Sen, a pillar of Bengali theater from Kolkata. In addition, as a celebration of Badal Sircar's centenary, we have another short play by him from New Jersey.
On Sunday, September 20th there are three plays in Malayalam, Hindi and Marathi along with a repeat performance by Off-Kendrik. These plays explore topics as diverse as superstitions, philosophy of existence and of course love.
