There is a fascinating story associated with the name of this company. Satya Mitra has a Ph.D in Biochemistry and was working as a scientist for many years.  He and his family have always sought guidance from their family Guru on all aspects of life. During his years as a scientist he developed a fascination for understanding the complexities of  the American tax code. He took several  courses and gained expertise in tax laws for individuals, corporations, partnerships and trusts. To test his new found knowledge, he started working for IDS Tax Services and H&R Block as a hobby.  Later when his Guru visited him from India, he asked Satya Mitra to quit his position as a scientist and enter in business fulltime. The instruction came as a surprise to Mitra who did not feel financially ready to make the move. But he put his trust in his Guru and made the switch.  His tax consultancy was named appropriately after his  Guru. His Guru’s instruction was clear. “Make sure you use this vehicle to help the community,” said Guruji and that became Satya’s mission.

Satya Mitra became very actively involved in community service and has given his time and money to support many worthwhile causes. He has been very active with the India Society of Worcester and served as Chair of Fundraising Committee for the India Center in Shrewsbury, MA which opened last year. Does he regret giving up his career as a scientist after training in it for many years? “Not at all. My background in science helps me see this new subject with true empirical logic,” says Mitra.

The Guru Tax and Financial Services has over 500 clients and Mitra takes personal interest in each case and believes in attending to each client with utmost sincerity.  Here is the contact information for  Guru Tax and Financial Services.
