Shri Radha Krishna Mandir in Northborough came alive with devotion, music and spiritual fervor as devotees gathered for a seven-day Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, held from August 9 through August 15. The special five-year continuous celebration brought renowned Kathakar and spiritual speaker Shri Devkinandan Thakur Ji Maharaj to New England for the first time.

The week-long program began on August 9 with a Kalash Yatra and Katha Prarambh, followed by Maha Aarti and Mahaprasadam. From August 10 through 14, devotees gathered each evening for the Katha, Maha Aarti and Mahaprasadam. The concluding day on August 15 featured Katha Samapan, Maha Yagna, Maha Aarti and Mahaprasadam.

For the devotees, the Katha was much more than a religious discourse. Shri Devkinandan Thakur Ji’s engaging narration, spiritual insight and exceptional singing created an atmosphere in which people felt deeply connected to Lord Krishna. His melodious bhajans often moved devotees from simply listening to spontaneously getting up and dancing in devotion. The joyful scenes reflected the central message of the Bhagwat Katha—experiencing the divine not only through words and knowledge, but also through love, music and surrender.

The grand finale on August 15 carried an added significance as the temple community celebrated India’s Independence Day. The Indian flag was hoisted by Shri Devkinandan Thakur Ji Maharaj, bringing together the spirit of patriotism and devotion. Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, Shri Thakur Ji delivered the concluding portion of the Bhagwat Katha and offered his blessings to the devotees, sponsors and everyone who had contributed to the successful आयोजन.

The closing ceremony continued with a Homa and Purna Ahuti, in which devotees participated with श्रद्धा and devotion, marking the completion of the week-long spiritual observance. The atmosphere was filled with prayers, chanting and a sense of gratitude as the community came together for the auspicious conclusion.

A particularly touching aspect of the closing day was the spirit of seva demonstrated by Shri Devkinandan Thakur Ji and his team. They personally served food to devotees with love and respect, adding a warm and personal dimension to the celebration. The gesture reflected the spirit of humility and service that was at the heart of the entire event.

Temple President Pankaj Adaval and Sunita Adaval expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Shri Devkinandan Thakur Ji Maharaj and his entire team for accepting the invitation and bringing the sacred Bhagwat Katha to the devotees of New England. They also thanked all the sponsors whose generous support made the program possible, as well as the devotees who participated enthusiastically throughout the week.

The temple leadership extended special appreciation to the volunteers for their selfless service, dedication and tireless efforts behind the scenes. They also acknowledged the temple priest for his continued dedication, humility and service to everyone, including Shri Devkinandan Thakur Ji and his team.

The seven-day celebration concluded not merely as the end of a religious program, but as a memorable gathering that strengthened the bonds of faith and community. For many devotees, the experience of listening to the Bhagwat Katha, singing together, participating in the Homa and sharing Prasadam created memories that will remain with them long after the final Aarti.

As the devotees departed with the blessings of Shri Radha Krishna and Shri Devkinandan Thakur Ji Maharaj, the message of the week remained simple and profound: when devotion is accompanied by love, music, service and community, spirituality becomes an experience that touches the heart.
