IAGB Announces Month‑Long Celebrations for India’s 79th Independence Day Across Greater Boston The India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB), one of New England’s oldest and largest Indian‑American civic organizations, proudly announces a series of community events throughout August 2026 to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day. The programming spans multiple towns, bringing together cultural performances, youth engagement, sports, scholarship recognition, and community partnerships. IAGB is honored to welcome distinguished dignitaries whose leadership and service exemplify the values of community, diplomacy, and empowerment. FLAG RAISING CEREMONIES — BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 2026 IAGB will host official Flag Raising Ceremonies in partnership with local towns, reaffirming shared values of democracy, diversity, and community. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honor will join community leaders, elected officials, and families at select ceremonies. The Chief Guest and Guest of Honor will address the gathering during the formal segment of the program. Key Highlights Grand Sponsor: Apna Bazar Farmers Market Food Partner: Craft Indian Kitchen IAGB FIRST‑EVER TENNIS BALL CRICKET TOURNAMENT Saturday, August 15, 2026, | 7:00 AM – 12:00 Noon at NARA Park Amphitheater, Acton, MA & Macpherson Field, Acton, MA IAGB introduces its inaugural Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament, celebrating India’s beloved sport with friendly competition, teamwork, and community engagement. Teams will compete for trophies including Champion, Runner‑Up, Best Batter, and Best Bowler. All participants receive a free T‑shirt. IAGB SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS 2026 Supported by The Kapasi Family Foundation, IAGB will present two $500 scholarships (one male, one female) to graduating high school seniors entering college in Fall 2026. Students submitted essays on the theme “Colors of India – Stories That Inspire.” Awards will be presented on August 15, 2026, at NARA Park during India Day celebrations.
