These laddus beautifully represent the spirit of Guru Purnima — sweetness of gratitude, purity of intention, and the sharing of blessings.
Ingredients (Makes about 15–18 laddus)
- 2 cups fresh grated coconut (or desiccated coconut)
- 1 cup grated Jaggery (adjust sweetness as desired)
- 2 tablespoons ghee
- ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
- 2 tablespoons chopped cashews or almonds (optional)
- A pinch of nutmeg powder (optional)
- 2 tablespoons milk (only if needed for binding)
Method
- Prepare the coconut mixture
- Heat 1-tablespoon ghee in a pan.
- Add grated coconut and sauté gently for 2–3 minutes until the raw smell disappears. Do not brown it.
- Add the sweetness
- Add grated Jaggery and mix well on low heat.
- The Jaggery will melt and combine with the coconut. Cook until the mixture thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
- Add flavors
- Add cardamom powder, nutmeg, and chopped nuts.
- Mix well and switch off the flame.
- Shape the laddus
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly until it is comfortable to handle.
- Grease your palms with a little ghee and roll into small round laddus.
- Offer with devotion
- Place the laddus as Guru Purnima Prasad with gratitude and a prayer for wisdom, humility, and blessings.
