07/23/2026 The aroma of fresh samosas, garam chai, the rhythm of Bollywood music, children proudly showing off colorful henna designs, families browsing local artisan booths, and neighbors from every background coming together in celebration this is what India Day in Newton has become over the past six years. On Sunday, August 16, the Indian American Community of Newton (IACON) will once again welcome the community to its 6th Annual India Day Celebration, an afternoon dedicated to celebrating India's rich culture while bringing together people of all backgrounds in the spirit of community. This year's celebration is especially meaningful as America commemorates its 250th anniversary of Independence. The occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on the diversity that strengthens our nation and to celebrate the many cultures that make Newton such a vibrant and welcoming place to live. What began as a community gathering has grown into an annual tradition that attracts hundreds of residents from Newton and neighboring towns. Each year, families return to enjoy an afternoon filled with music, dance, food, and friendship, while many first-time visitors discover the beauty and richness of Indian culture. Guests can look forward to an exciting lineup of classical, folk, Bollywood, and contemporary performances, a vibrant bazaar featuring local artisans and businesses, authentic Indian cuisine and street food, children's activities including henna and face painting, and interactive experiences for the entire family. More than anything, India Day is about creating connections. It is an opportunity to celebrate our heritage, support local businesses, showcase community talent, and welcome neighbors to experience the traditions, flavors, and hospitality that define Indian culture. Whether your family has attended every year or this will be your very first India Day, everyone is welcome. Bring your family, invite your friends, and join us for an afternoon of culture, music, food, and community celebration. Date: Sunday, August 16, 2026 Admission is free and open to all. The Indian American Community of Newton extends its sincere thanks to this year's sponsors Sun Life Financial, Harmony Foundation, and The Village Bank for their generous support in making India Day 2026 possible.
