Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked rice (cooled)
1 cup fresh yogurt (curd)
- ¼ cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- Salt to taste
For Tempering
- 1 tablespoon oil
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon urad dal
- 1 dry red chili (optional)
- A few curry leaves
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)

- Grated carrot
- Pomegranate seeds
- Chopped coriander leaves
Method
- Mash the cooked rice while it is still slightly warm.
- Add yogurt, milk, salt, and grated ginger. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds.
- Once they splutter, add urad dal, curry leaves, red chili, and asafoetida.
- Pour the tempering over the rice mixture and mix gently.
- Garnish with grated carrot or pomegranate seeds and serve.
