Global Peace Secretariat and the Caribbean
Global Peace Secretariat recently had 2 amazing interactions with the Indo Caribbean community of the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago.
In the first instance, Global Peace Secretariat presented a Special Citation to the Indo-Caribbean Culture Centre of Trinidad & Tobago, founded by anthropologist Dr. Kumar Mahabir, for their 300th continuous episode of weekly zoom Thought Leaders Forum bringing eminent scholars and intellectuals globally together, to discuss issues focusing on various topics of interest and impact in the Indo-Caribbean diaspora with the goal of creating a more just and equitable society in Indo-Carribean communities globally.
" It is very heart warning to connect with the Indian diaspora in Caribbean countries but also heart wrenching to hear of the suffering of the indentured labor community, a history of some who were brought there by the British from India a long while ago. The ICC is doing the important work of bringing this history to the awareness of the global population"....Secretary General Kumu Gupta, Nobel Peace Prize Nominee 2023.
On another occasion, Secretary General Kumu Gupta spoke to current Miss Teen India Worldwide Trinidad and Tobago Jayda Jireh Ramjattan 2025 about her life as a teenager and global humanitarian cause she is involved in. Jayda, besides being a bright student was appointed a Child Rights Ambassador for Trinidad and Tobago with UNICEF and Office of the Prime Minister, Gender and Child Affairs division 2025, had a winning piece Rethink Responsibility Act Now Leave No Child Behind in the Art Amateur Under 12 category of The Expressions Photography and Art Competition, European Union for TT and Photographers Guild of TT 2019 & Master of Ceremony and Vocalist Guest artist for Touch of Joy Foundation for International Womens' day celebration health and wellness 8/3/26. Among her accolades, Jayda was nominated for Commonwealth Youth Awards 2026, International Children's Peace Prize & Global Youth Awards 2025. As a fierce Environmental Advocate, Jayda founded ECOSTEPS TT a popup booth that displays environmental issues to bring awareness to persons and educate and empowers youth to tackle global challenges through innovative, community-driven solutions.
It's remarkable that at such a young age, Miss Jayda Ramjattan even founded Jayda's little lending Libraries for Princes Town 2023 to allow books to circulate in the community and for underprivileged children to access books.
