Press Release 07/02/2026 Community Unites at the Om Hindu Community Center to Celebrate International Day of Yoga 2026 The Om Hindu Community Center proudly celebrated International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2026, in collaboration with several partnering organizations, welcoming nearly 50 participants from Billerica and surrounding communities for an inspiring afternoon dedicated to this year’s global theme: Yoga for Healthy Aging. Held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the celebration was led by experienced yoga instructors Samita Apte, Nikhil Sole, and Shruti Sole, who guided participants through a thoughtfully designed practice of yoga postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and guided meditation. The session welcomed participants of all ages and levels of experience, creating a warm, inclusive atmosphere where everyone could experience the transformative benefits of yoga. The event emphasized that healthy aging is about much more than adding years to life; it is about adding life to our years. Yoga offers practical tools to cultivate strength, flexibility, balance, resilience, mental clarity, and emotional well-being, empowering us to live each day as our best self. Participants experienced firsthand how even a few minutes of daily yoga and mindful breathing can support vitality, reduce stress, and enhance overall quality of life at every stage of life. More than a yoga session, the gathering was a celebration of community, connection, and the universal values of harmony, peace, and wellness. Families, friends, and neighbors came together to honor an ancient tradition that continues to offer timeless wisdom for modern living. The Om Hindu Community Center sincerely thanks its partnering organizations for their invaluable support in making this celebration a success: Sewa International Boston, Art of Living Foundation, VHPA, Cancer Mukti Foundation, IAGB, HSS, Sanskrit Bharati, MMNA, and Yoga Kulam. The Center also extends heartfelt appreciation to the instructors, volunteers, and every participant whose enthusiasm and presence made the event both meaningful and memorable. The success of this celebration reflects the strength of community partnerships and a shared commitment to promoting health, wellness, cultural values, and service. As the instructors shared during the event, health is not merely the absence of disease- it is living our best life as our best self. Whether you are just beginning your wellness journey or looking to deepen an existing practice, Samita Apte, Nikhil Sole, and Shruti Sole are happy to support you with yoga, breathing practices, and meditation. Let us continue to incorporate the practice of yoga in our daily life. Starting with Labor Day join us every Sunday for a yoga practice at the Om Hindu Community Center.
