Saheli Boston Hosts Annual Conference 2026 - Beyond Survival, Systems And Dignity

05/21/2026

Saheli will host its annual conference, Beyond Survival: Safety, Systems & Dignity, on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Babson College. Bringing together advocates, legal professionals, healthcare providers, educators, policymakers, nonprofit leaders, and community members, the conference will create space for meaningful dialogue around survivor-centered responses to domestic violence and the systems that shape safety and healing.

Centered on the idea of moving beyond immediate crisis response, the conference aims to explore how communities can better support survivors through long-term healing, prevention, dignity, and sustainable systems of care. The day will open with a keynote address by Natalie Higgins, Beyond Survival: Building Systems That Protect, Empower & Prevent, drawing on her experience in legal advocacy, public policy, and domestic violence prevention.

The conference will feature several expert-led discussions addressing domestic violence through multiple lenses. The Gap Between Safe & Stable will examine the realities survivors face in navigating the often-overlooked space between immediate crisis intervention and long-term recovery. Panelists include Jessica Teperow, Mick Hirsch, Vilma Uribe, and Noor Kazmi.

Another featured panel, Expanding the Frame: Domestic Violence Through a Cultural Lens, will explore how culture, generational dynamics, family systems, and community expectations shape experiences of domestic violence. Speakers include Kalyani Krishnan and Rehana Rahman Kiani, who will bring expertise in culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches.

Additional programming includes a TED-style session on cyber and digital safety in domestic violence, a storytelling session titled Threads of Heritage, and the Saheli Awards Ceremony, recognizing leaders advancing survivor advocacy and systems change. Attendees will also have opportunities to connect throughout the day over breakfast, lunch, and a dedicated coffee networking hour/
