Beyond the Soloist: LearnQuest’s "Art of the Ensemble" 2026 Celebrates the Power of Collective Harmony

The third annual LearnQuest Dance Festival, taking place May 9th from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offers a unique blend of local talent and world-class narrative theater. This year’s festival theme, "Art of the Ensemble" focuses on collective harmony, moving away from the individual to celebrate the growth of the art form as a whole.

A Theatrical Centerpiece: The festival’s centerpiece is the deeply evocative bioplay Enchantment. Directed by Gowri Ramnarayan and shaped by the maestro’s own witty and poignant words, the play weaves together theatre, live dance, and music to reveal the vulnerability and brilliance of Ravi Shankar. The production is a sensory experience, featuring exclusive compositions by Bombay Jayashri and vocals by Aditya Prakash, Vignesh Ishwar, and Chaitra Sairam, all set against the backdrop of the maestro’s legendary sitar recordings.

The Journey of the Ensemble: Complementing this centerpiece is Kathak Yātrā, a production by Shambhavi Dandekar & Ensemble. It serves as a vibrant exploration of rhythm and grace, highlighting the beauty of synchronicity. By showcasing the power of the group, the production perfectly mirrors the festival’s mission to promote unity over the individual.

Cultivating the Next Generation: Dance Festival chair Pallavi Nagesha has designed the festival as a transformative growth opportunity for local students. By allowing local schools to perform alongside eminent artists, students gain invaluable exposure to professional stagecraft. "The goal is for students to stay for the entire event," Pallavi notes, "to observe, learn, and support the larger ensemble of our community." This culture of mutual respect ensures that the New England dance community grows together, from the local classroom to the global stage.

The 2026 Lineup The program features four meticulously curated acts exploring different facets of ensemble work:

  • Kuchipudi: Sri Krishna Parijatham - A grand dance-drama directed by Sailaja Chaudhary Tummala. This vibrant production brings to life the celestial story of Lord Krishna and Satyabhama through the signature grace and storytelling of the Kuchipudi tradition.
  • Bharatanatyam: Love, Longing and Laya - An duet by Amrita Thirumalai and Shrinidhi Jeyaram. This performance showcases the "Art of the Ensemble" through mirrored precision, exploring the deep emotional nuances of yearning and rhythmic harmony.
  • Kathak Yātrā - A curated rhythmic journey led by Shambhavi Dandekar. Featuring an ensemble of five dancers, this piece navigates the elegant storytelling and powerful, lightning-fast footwork that defines the legacy of Kathak.
  • Enchantment: A Ravi Shankar Bioplay - A captivating theater and dance production written by Gowri Ramnarayan with music by Bombay Jayashri. This evocative biopic pays tribute to the life and global legacy of the legendary Sitar maestro.

The 3rd Annual LearnQuest Dance Festival is an invitation to become part of a larger rhythmic dialogue. By shifting the spotlight from the individual soloist to the collective power of the ensemble, the festival celebrates the enduring strength of our shared cultural heritage. It is an afternoon designed not just to entertain, but to inspire the next generation of dancers to see themselves as vital threads in a rich, global tapestry.

We invite you to join us in Framingham to witness this celebration of mirrored precision, soulful storytelling, and the transformative legacy of the masters.
