TEAM Aid Hosts Landmark Gathering in Boston Honoring Diplomatic Leadership and Advancing Humanitarian Collaboration

 TEAM Aid, a global nonprofit humanitarian organization dedicated to assisting individuals and families facing crises abroad, successfully hosted a distinguished gathering in Boston, bringing together diplomatic leaders and representatives from 66 Indian diaspora organizations across New England. The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between the newly established Consulate General of India in Boston and the broader community.

The gathering honored Consul General Mr. Raghuram S, Deputy Consul General Ms. Shruthi Purushotam, Mr. Jag Mohan, Minister (Personnel & Community Affairs) at the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., and Mr. Prem Bhandari, Chairman of Jaipur Foot USA. The program commenced with the national anthems of the United States and India, followed by a cultural performance that reflected the spirit of unity and shared heritage.

In his keynote address, TEAM Aid Founder and President Mr. Mohan Nannapaneni outlined the organization’s mission and the complex humanitarian challenges it addresses globally. He emphasized the critical importance of timely coordination with governments, consulates, airlines, and local authorities to ensure dignified repatriation of mortal remains and compassionate support to grieving families.

Highlighting the purpose of the event, Mr. Nannapaneni noted that the initiative was designed to foster stronger collaboration between the Consulate and community organizations, enabling a more coordinated and effective response to the needs of the Indian diaspora. He also acknowledged the Government of India, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, for enabling key policy reforms that have significantly streamlined repatriation processes and reduced bureaucratic hurdles for families during their most difficult times.

TEAM Aid’s impact was prominently recognized during the event. Since its founding in 2017, the organization has assisted over 5,000 families across more than 25 countries, facilitated thousands of dignified funeral services across the United States and Canada, and built a global network of over 3,000 volunteers operating 24/7. The organization has also extended support to individuals in distress, including those facing legal, medical, and humanitarian challenges.

Deputy Consul General Ms. Shruthi Purushotam provided an overview of the Boston Consulate’s services, emphasizing its role in supporting students, families, and professionals. Mr. Jag Mohan commended TEAM Aid’s humanitarian efforts and underscored the importance of strong collaboration between diplomatic missions and community organizations.

In a significant announcement, TEAM Aid appointed Mr. Prem Bhandari as its Honorary Chairman, recognizing his longstanding guidance and advocacy.

In his address, Mr. Prem Bhandari praised the Consulate General of India in New York under Consul General Binay K. Pradhan for its exemplary year-round service to over 2 million diaspora members, urging other consulates to follow its model. He also highlighted the need for more efficient and transparent VFS services.

Recalling his association with Mr. S. Raghuram, Mr. Bhandari referenced their collaboration during the 2019 Jaipur Foot event at Capitol Hill, under the leadership of Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla, whom he commended for his continued leadership. He appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision in strengthening global diaspora engagement and described the Boston Consulate as a significant step forward.

Mr. Bhandari also commended Mr. Mohan Nannapaneni and TEAM Aid for their selfless, volunteer-driven humanitarian work.

With over 250 attendees, the gathering underscored a strong sense of unity, shared responsibility, and collective purpose among diaspora organizations and diplomatic leadership.
