Sudha Mulpur 03/19/2026 2026 Ugadi celebrations were grandly organized under the aegis of the Telugu Association of Greater Boston (TAGB) in the United States on March 15th. Approximately 700 Telugu community members attended and participated in these festivities, which were held at the local King Philip High School in Wrentham, Massachusetts. A concert by the Hyderabad-based 'Band Capricio' stood out as the main attraction of the celebrations. The band members—Eknath (vocals), Aditi Bhavaraju (vocals), Shravan (keyboard), Teja (cajon and percussion), Nishanth (acoustic and electric guitars), Moses (bass guitar), and Chaitanya (sound engineer)—entertained the entire audience with a highly energetic performance. Earlier in the day, during the cultural programs, nearly 200 local artists presented 43 distinct performances, beautifully reflecting the richness of Telugu language, culture, and traditions. For this Ugadi, TAGB organized a delightful poetry recitation contest titled 'Pasidi Padyalu' (Golden Verses) for both children and adults. Over 25 members participated enthusiastically, winning prizes across various proficiency levels: Padya Arambha Mani, Padya Kushala, Padya Praveena, and Padya Visharada. Another highlight of the event was the "Anandam Brahmanandam" Reels Contest, organized by TAGB to mark the 70th birthday of the legendary comedian and Padma Shri awardee, 'Hasya Brahma' Brahmanandam. The top three winning reels from this contest were screened during the program, and prizes were awarded to the winners. Subsequently, TAGB President Sudha Mulpur addressed the gathering, expressing her delight that TAGB was able to present the "Band Capricio" concert to the Boston audience—an event designed to appeal to people of all ages—as a fitting prelude to the new Telugu year. She remarked that the enthusiastic participation of local artists—ranging from young children to adults—is a source of immense pride for the entire Telugu community in the Boston area. Furthermore, she acknowledged that the organization is able to host such splendid events solely due to the local sponsors who have stepped forward to generously provide financial support to TAGB. 2026-27 TAGB Executive Committee: Sudha Mulpur (President), Deepti Koripalli (President-Elect), Jagadeesh Chinnam (Secretary), Surya Telaprolu (Treasurer), Manasa Krishna (Cultural Secretary). Board of Trustees: Kalidas Surapaneni (Chairman), Chandra Vallurupalli (Board Member), Kalyan Kaki (Board Member), Sirisha Kethireddy (Board Member), Srinivas Gondi (Ex-Officio). As part of the program, former TAGB Chairpersons were honored on stage, and the organization once again publicly expressed its gratitude for the dedicated services they have rendered.
