On the evening of March 14, 2026, the elegant halls of the Boston Marriott Burlington came alive with purpose, inspiration, and celebration as the 23rd Annual Woman of the Year Awards Gala brought together a vibrant cross-section of the Indian-American and South Asian community. Organized by Dr. Manju Sheth and INDIA New England News, the event has, over more than two decades, evolved into a defining platform that recognizes women whose leadership is shaping communities across New England and beyond.
With over 300 attendees—including community leaders, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and professionals—the evening was far more than an awards ceremony. It was a powerful gathering of voices committed to impact and progress, honoring not just individual accomplishments but the collective rise of women across industries.
The program was seamlessly anchored by Dr. Mandy Pant and Sheetal Acharya. Following a warm welcome, Dr. Manju Sheth shared a few heartfelt remarks, reflecting on the journey and vision behind the initiative, while Upendra Mishra also addressed the audience.
The guest of honor, Lynda Roscoe Hartigan, Executive Director and CEO of the Peabody Essex Museum, delivered an inspiring speech, weaving together her own career journey, the mission of the museum, and a tribute to Sunita Pareira, who was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Pareira addressed the audience and described her career's journey. The keynote address by Diana DiZoglio struck a powerful chord, emphasising the importance of prioritizing people and purpose over mere achievement.
The evening recognised an impressive group of finalists—Pubali Banerjee, Deepali Gulati, Ekta Jain, Neha Kaushal, Shikha Malhotra, Shama Nannapaneni, Monica Shah, Amelia Singh, Dr. Lakshmi Thalanki, and Monika Manocha Wadhwa—each representing excellence across diverse fields. Amelia Singh was named Woman of the Year, honored for the large-scale impact of her work at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
The event also featured delightful cultural performances, including a soulful musical presentation by Sudha Subbaraman and an energetic dance performance by the students of Ekta Dance Academy, adding vibrancy and warmth to the evening.
More than anything, the gala was a heartfelt celebration of Nari Shakti—the power, resilience, and achievements of women. Kudos to Dr. Manju Sheth for the passion and dedication she brings year after year in curating this meaningful event, which continues to inspire, uplift, and validate the journeys of so many remarkable women.
