Press Release 03/13/2026 Kick-off Concerts this week leading to the Annual LearnQuest Music Festival Waltham based LearnQuest Academy of Music announces a series of Indian classical music events this month culminating into its three-day annual music festival on April 3rd, 4th and 5th. These musical events begin with a series of kick-off concerts this week on Saturday, March 14th at Lesley University, Cambridge, MA featuring some of the talented young Carnatic and Hindustani artists of the Boston area with a concluding concert by the sitarist Shakir Khan, son of the eminent sitarist Ustad Shahid Parvez from Pune, India, who will be accompanied on Tabla by Nitin Mitta. Below is a list pre-festival music events planned by LearnQuest in the month of March and the first week of April. Kick-off Concerts for LearnQuest Music Festival March 14, Saturday, 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM, at Marran Theater, Lesley University, Cambridge, MA Free Admission 1. Carnatic Veena and Violin Concert: Sahana Venkatesh on veena, Sadhana Venkatesh on violin and Srivatsan Mukunthraj on mridangam 2. Hindustani Vocal Concert: Selina Banerjee (vocal) with Hirak Modi on harmonium and Rajesh Pai on tabla 3. Sitar Concert: Shakir Khan on sitar with Nitin Mitta on tabla An Evening of Hindustani Vocal and Santoor concerts (Presented in collaboration with the India Society of Worcester) March 21, Saturday, 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM, at the India Center, Shrewsbury, MA Admission: General - $20; LearnQuest and ISW members - $15 1. Hindustani Vocal Concert: Ashwin Rode (vocal) with Varun Kelkar on harmonium and Pranav Ghatraju on tabla 2.
