Tsunami's Devastation Calls For Relief And Help

Ranjani Saigal

The Indus Entrepreneurs - America Indian Foundation

TiE Global has setup a special TiE Tsunami Fund which will focus on the crucial second phase of the relief in India which involves the job of putting the survivors back into their livelihoods. Desh Deshpande, Raj Desai and Sridar Iyengar have recently been in Chennai and have had discussions with TiE Chennai on how TiE can help. That chapter will assist in this second phase which should begin shortly once the initial shelter, medical and food needs of the affected population are catered for by the Indian government and NGOs.

The TiE Tsunami Fund is a donor advised fund with the American India Foundation (AIF) and contributions to it will qualify for a tax deduction in the US. AIF which was created in the aftermath of the Gujarat earthquake has significant experience of working with NGOs in India. For the funds raised through TiE, AIF has agreed that both TiE Global and TiE Chennai will manage the disbursement decision and process.
