Ganesh Krishnan 02/12/2026 Maha Shivaratri Celebrations at Sri Lakshmi Temple Sri Lakshmi Temple in Ashland warmly invites devotees and community members to participate in the sacred observance of Maha Shivaratri on Sunday, February 15, 2026 — a spiritually significant night dedicated to prayer, reflection, and the worship of Lord Shiva. The temple’s annual celebration will feature a full day and night of traditional rituals, devotional music, and collective worship, offering devotees an opportunity for inner transformation and spiritual awakening. Maha Shivaratri, revered as a time for renewal and deep devotion, will be marked by a series of sacred ceremonies beginning in the morning and continuing through the early hours of the following day. The celebrations will open with the Maharudra Yagnam from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, invoking divine blessings through Vedic chants and offerings. The evening program, scheduled from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, will include Shanka Sthapanam (Moola Mantra Homam), Vastrahuthi, Vasodhara, Mahapurnahuthi, Aarathi, and Yatradhanam. During this time, devotees will also have the opportunity to perform Jalabhishekam to the Sahasralingam, followed by Panchakshara Mantra Japam and devotional Bhajans. The night-long worship will continue with a Maha Abhishekam from 10:00 PM to 12:30 AM, followed by Alankaram, Bhajans, and Aarathi until 3:30 AM. The sacred observances will conclude at dawn with Lingabhishekam and Aarathi from 4:30 AM to 6:00 AM. Throughout the day, special observances such as Bilva Pathra Archana will be available. Devotees are especially encouraged to participate in Bilva Archana and Jalabhishekam — two highly auspicious forms of worship associated with Lord Shiva, believed to bring spiritual purification, blessings, and inner peace. As part of the festivities, the temple will also host Nadhaanjali (devotional music offerings) and Nrithyanjali (devotional dance offerings), where musicians and dancers of all ages present classical performances as sacred expressions of bhakti.
