Poem: Ode To The Pumpkin

Geethanjali
11/13/2025

Ode to the Pumpkin

Round and golden, plump with pride
Glow on the countryside large farm
From tangled vines and earthy beds
Lift up its bright and sturdy heads

The farmer carefully till the ground
In autumn’s hush, pumpkin joy is found
It wears the sun’s last bright amber hue
As fields bid summer’s warmth adieu

On porches wide, pumpkin softly gleam
In lantern form it sets a child’s dream
Its candle heart and a flickering light
Guides spirits home through misty night

In the warm kitchens, its sweetness grows
In pies and soups, its aroma and flavor flows
With spice and cream, pumpkin fills the air
Everyone enjoys a taste-- rich and rare
