Global Peace Secretariat presents Von Trapp family with Special Citation on 60th Anniversary of  Sound of Music movie 

Global Peace Secretariat presented Kristina Von Trapp of the Von Trapp family with a Special Citation for spreading global peace through their singing over the years, on occasion of Armistice Day November 11th (end of WWI agreement signing), 2025  marking 60 th Anniversary of " Sound of Music ' Hollywood movie based on the Von Trapp's.

" I watched Sound of Music as a child and visited Austria on summer break in school. Following which, I had the privilege of having Julie Andrews daughter be a teacher at a satellite campus of my university SUNY Stony Brook ( MS/BE both).  Thus I feel a close connection to the Von Trapp family and their journey from Austria to USA spreading global peace through their singing , is truly inspiring for generations to come"..... The Trapp Family (also known as the von Trapp Family) was a singing group formed from the family of former Austrian naval commander Georg von Trapp. Georg Ludwig Ritter von Trapp was the most successful Austro-Hungarian submarine commander of World War I in the Austro-Hungarian Navy who became the patriarch of the Trapp Family Singers. Georg Trapp declined a commission in the German Navy and emigrated with his family to the United States.
