Mohiniyattam Concert By Dr. Neena Prasad: Video Excerpts And Audience Feedback

Press Release
11/12/2025

Video excerpts and audience feedback from Mohiniyattam Concert by Dr. Neena Prasad

Last month, Rasik presented a concert of Mohiniyattam - a dance form rarely seen in North America, by the world's leading artist of this form - Dr. Neena Prasad. The concert opened to a full house at The Dance Complex in Cambridge and was accompanied by an ensemble of live musicians - also a rare treat for the Greater Boston audience!

What we witnessed that evening was not just a spellbinding production of dance, but a deeply moving emotional experience, punctuated only by gasps and tears from the audience. Thank you to everyone who joined us on this special evening of live dance. We are delighted to share some video excerpts from the concert and feedback from members of the audience.

She had me rooted to my chair, suspended in space and time; I dared not move or blink an eye for I didn't want to miss a single micro-gesture or nuanced gaze that told a thousand words.
- Shipra Mehrotra, dancer, choreographer, dance educator

"It is a rare treat to watch a Mohiniyattam performance in Boston, but even more so when the performer is of such a high caliber as Dr. Neena Prasad. As a solo artist, she brought entire scenes to life onstage along with musicians of equally skilled artistry. A true experience of 'rasa' for the audience."

- Sumati Ram-Mohan, dancer and research scholar

She was simply extraordinary and the performance will stay in our minds and hearts for a long time.
- Sunanda Narayanan, dancer, choreographer, dance educator

"I am so glad I got to watch her. What a blessing... I was so overwhelmed!"

- Deepa Mangalat

"This collaboration with Rasik has been magical... a more solid dance ecology in Boston/Cambridge and New England; in the country - only allows us more ways to dispel the myth that great dance is a single thing... Like people and cultures, great dance reveals itself in so many forms in so many ways... I'm really glad to be a part of this, and that the Dance Complex is a part of this."

- Peter DiMuro, Executive Artistic Director, Dance Complex
