Ode to Lung Cancer Awareness

Breathe in nicely, we often forget,
To set the quiet rhythm for vibrant life
Each breath is a life, a pulse, a flame
Till one day, nothing feels the same

A shadow forms in the active physique
The body becomes weak, the spirit frayed.
The cough that lingers with pain so deep
Disturbs the hours once meant for sleep

Somehow, courage rises from within
The will to fight and to not give up
The breath once difficult learns to mend
With love and care from family and friends

It is not just lungs that feel the strain
But minds and souls that share the pain
Families pray, and loved ones stay
Holding hope like dawn holds day

Through this poem Shakti softly plea
To each and every heart from everywhere
Do not wait to cough, don’t hide the sign
Get screened, stay safe — your breath is divine

For lungs are life, and life is a breath
Worth guarding it well from silent death
And those who fight this unseen war
Are brave heroes with much strength

Breathe on, dear soul slowly and steadily

Your courage writes another page anew
Each breath you take, each tear you shed
Keeps countless others strong instead
