Noted filmmaker Mrinal Sen will recieve the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2003 for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, said a recent announcement.

Mrinal Sen will be presented the award by the president Mr. Abdul Kalam at the  51st National Film Awards function on February 2.

Band aid- Bollywood style. Javed Akhtar penned the song that will feature the voices of more than a dozen famous voices, singing together to raise funds for the victims of the Tsunami.  The song, composed by Jatin Lalit will be performed live on January 18 at the Annual Star Plus-Screen Film Awards.

Singers signed up include  Alka Yagnik , Udit Narayan , Shaan , Sonu Nigam , Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Sapna Mukherjee and Sadhna Sargam .

Mumbai city based tabloid Mid Day that had splashed pictures of Kareena smooching her boyfriend and Bollywood actor Shahid Kapur in a suburban restaurant, has been sued by the couple who are seeking around Rs 20 Crore. Claiming that the pictures were doctored, the miffed twosome also called for an immediate apology.

Mid Day, though is sticking to its guns, defending their action and claiming that they have committed no illegal blunder by publishing the photographs.

Kumar Sanu, the successful playback singer turns movie producer!

He will back a film titled Vasundhara under the banner Kumar Sanu Communications P. Ltd. Sanu will also be the music director of the film which is based on Bangla novelist Sarat Chandra's work.

 

Priety Zinta, though shaken and stirred after the bomb blast at her concert in Colombo is happy that her film Veer Zara is doing so well at the Box Office. The latest scoop on the Zinta front is that she will act in another Yashraj Production. Her co-star in the film is her buddy Sqaif Ali Khan that will be directed by newcomer Sidharth.

Parineeta-The Married Woman," Vidhu Vinod Chopra's latest will be released in April 2005. Adapted from a novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyaya, stars Saif Ali Khan, Raima Sen, and newcomer Vidya Balan. The film is supposed to be an intense saga about lova and commitment.

Music for the film will be relased in Februaray 2005. The film also features the trainthat was seen in Aradhana many years ago, which had Rajesh Khanna serenade Sharmila Tagore with "Mere Sapno Ki Rani"

Raj Babbar will be seen alongside daughter Juhi in the film "Uns", Said producer-director Bhupendra Gupta to Bollywood Trade."It is the role of a lifetime, with a very interesting angle to the father-daughter relationship and we felt that no other actor could essay the character better than Raj Babbar."

Now some sad news for you bachelors who  love the former Ms Universe, Sushmita Sen. Sen has announced that she is going to get married soon. We have no idea who the lucky groom is but will let you know the moment she decides to confide in us! Sush lives with and dotes on her adopted baby girl.

Tamil cinema heartthrob Madhavan returns to Bollywood with a new comedy "Ramji Londonwale", a remake of the Tamil hit "Nala Damyanthi", which was written and produced by Kamal Haasan. Ashutosh Gowrikar's assistant, Sanjay Daima will direct the film.
