A Poem for Deepavali

Text Box: The darkness of the night goes way
when countless lamps greet the day
A billions of flickering golden eyes
Reflecting joy in autumn blue skies

From tiny lamp, a flame is born
To banish night and welcome morn
On windowsills and painted floors
The diya's light adorns the doors

The air is scented with fragrance
And sweets are shared with everyone
Magnificent rangolis of vibrant hue
Welcome good, and old, and new

The tale of Rama echoes around us
Of victory of light over darkness

Of good returning to its throne and
Seeds of knowledge deeply sown

The happy sounds of laughter rise
Beneath the glittering colorful skies
As fireworks bloom and fade from sight
Reflecting back the rise of inner light

We light a lamp and let worries cease
And fill our heart with joy and peace
From every lamp that bravely burns
A lesson of the good life, one learns
