| Indian-American Community Holds 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony In Westborough |

Members of the Indian American community led by the Foundation of Indian Americans (“FIA”) – New England gathered at the 911 Memorial at 43 Milk Street in Westborough, Massachusetts on Wednesday evening to honor the lives lost in the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The somber ceremony was organized to remember nearly 3,000 innocent victims, including at least 41 individuals of Indian origin, as well as to pay tribute to the courageous and selfless first responders who bravely made the ultimate sacrifice while saving others.
The 911 Memorial on Milk Street in Westborough has a steel column from the original World Trade Center, symbolizing resilience and remembering the final resting place of innocent victims as well as brave Firefighters and Police Officers. Community members paid tribute by laying flowers and observing a moment of silence.
"Terrorist attacks on America on September 11, 2001, was not only a national tragedy for America but also the entire civilized world and all of humanity since the victims represented multiple different nationalities, ethnicities and faiths,” said Abhishek Singh, FIA’s President.
Indian American community members also observed another moment of silence in memory of Mr. Charlie Kirk, Founder of Turning Point USA, and tireless advocate of free speech, who was assassinated on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. “There is no room for violence in a democracy which protects free speech and allows difference of opinions,” said FIA’s Vice President Sanjay Gokhale.
Community members offered prayers and read “Shanti Path” in memory of the victims of September 11 terrorist attacks as well as for Charlie Kirk and his young family. The event brought together Indian American families in greater Boston area and local residents of Westborough, who stood in solemn unity to reflect on the impact of that fateful day.
The ceremony served as both a memorial and a call for peace and unity, underscoring the Indian American community’s deep connection to the broader American experience. It also reflected the ongoing commitment to never forget the lives lost and the heroes who rose to the occasion in the face of unimaginable adversity.
