Amma's Daily Rangoli
by Geetha Patil

Naga Panchami celebrates the serpent deities. So, for Naga  Panchami, rangoli designs often feature snakes, serpents, or other symbols associated with the Naga festival, like Lord Shiva, Lord Shankar, milk bowl, lotus flowers, Diya and other things which are considered auspicious and associated with purity and divinity. These rangolis are typically drawn with white rice flour or white stone powder, colored powders at the entrance of homes to welcome guests and bring good luck and prosperity.

Common Naga Panchami rangoli designs include snakes winding around each other or in a spiral. Snake or other Naga-related motifs are drawn in dot patterns or freehand designs.
