Suchitra Shinde 07/25/2025 India Day 2025: Celebrating India’s 78th Independence Day and ISW’s 62 Years of Community Service The India Society of Worcester (ISW) proudly presents India Day 2025, a flagship free event recognizing 62 years of cultural pride, community service, and unity. This signature event will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 12 PM to 7 PM at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. ISW President Prof. Jagan Srinivasan and Vice President Balki Chandrakasan warmly invite everyone to join this vibrant celebration. This year’s theme, “Satyamev Jayate – Truth Always Triumphs,” is India's national motto inscribed on the emblem of India, it carries deep meaning for people across the country. “It’s a phrase that touches every Indian,” shared Kamlesh Khilnani, co-chair of India Day 2025 with Suchitra Shinde and General Secretary of the India Society of Worcester. Thousands are expected to gather for a day filled with cultural performances, delicious regional cuisine, art and craft showcases, a vibrant bazaar, youth programs, and live music. The event also features a Business Expo and a Free Health Stop, offering something for every age and interest. New to this year’s celebration is a special initiative from Women Empowering Women (WEW) offering free professional headshots—an empowering opportunity for attendees to enhance their personal branding and professional image. Additionally, ISW’s Professional and Entrepreneurs Network (PEN) and WEW will be hosting resume reviews and mock interviews throughout the event. We encourage all attendees to take advantage of these valuable resources. For many volunteers and attendees, India Day holds a deeper, more personal meaning. “To me, India Day has been about 'Swagatam'… a welcome to all, no matter where you are from," shares Komal Tanna, Co-Chair of the Cultural Team at ISW. “It’s a sense of belonging, a community event where you see all colors of India. The vibrancy of our culture is showcased through dance, singing, shopping, food, kids’ events, and more. I’ve been proud to volunteer for this event for many years and have made lifelong friends—like family!” Echoing this sentiment, Rashi Khanna, an ISW Member, reflects, “To me, India Day is about our traditions—our family values, respect, and unity. We showcase our diversity through food, music, and dance, and demonstrate how to build a strong community.” India Day is free and open to the public. ISW invites choreographers, vendors, sponsors, and advertisers to be part of this exciting celebration.
