Understanding Stress: Five Essential Definitions

Before we dive into our practice, let's explore what stress truly means through five key perspectives:

1. Stress is Imbalance

When our mind, body, and spirit are out of harmony, stress manifests as the symptom of this disconnection.

2. Stress is Speed

In our fast-paced world, the relentless speed of modern life often overwhelms our natural rhythms.

3. Stress is Perception (Deepak Chopra)

Any situation we perceive as a physical or psychological threat becomes a source of stress - highlighting how our mindset shapes our experience. If two folks are going down Roller Coaster:          One is Enjoying with Screaming and other one is having a Heart Attack ??)

4. Stress is a Reaction, Not an Action

Understanding that stress is our response to circumstances, not the circumstances themselves, empowers us to change our relationship with challenging situations.

5. Autonomic Nervous System Response

Stress triggers our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system reactions, affecting our entire being.

Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times

In Sanskrit, we recognize "Adhi Ja Vyaadhi" - stress-born diseases. The progression from Adhi (mental disturbance) to Vyaadhi (physical disease) to Upaadhi (chronic conditions) shows us how untreated stress manifests in our lives.

But there is hope and healing available to us.

Your Weekend Practice

This weekend, we'll explore practical techniques to restore balance, slow down our internal speed, shift our perceptions, and calm our nervous system responses. Come prepared to learn tools you can apply immediately in your daily life.

We encourage you to share your experiences as you begin implementing these stress management principles. Your journey may inspire others in our community!

OM Shanthi, Shanti, Shantihi
OM Peace, Peace, Peace be with us!

With gratitude and peaceful intentions,
