Immerse yourself in the grandeur of ancient Indian history with poet Kalidasa’s Shakuntala – The Legend of the Lost Ring. Did you know that “Bharat,” a synonym for India, takes its name from King Bharata —the son of Shakuntala and King Dushyant! Join this spectacular Broadway-style epic production and step back in time into the enchanting world of Shakuntala, drawn from the timeless Indian epic Mahabharata, where a secret royal marriage, a fateful curse, and a lost ring propel a heart-wrenching love story that will keep you enthralled. Vision-Aid’s grand productions for the past 18 years need no introduction to New England audiences, and this year’s show takes it to a whole new level bringing to Boston, a spectacular new choreography by renowned dance producer Kalaimamani Madurai R. Muralidaran, directed by super talented Boston area Artistic Directors Jeyanthi Ghatraju and Sripriya Natarajan Moorthy, with several leading area dance teachers and 50+ dancers. This mesmerizing production will bring to life the poignant journey of Shakuntala and Dushyant—separated by destiny, reunited by a fisherman’s chance discovery—and highlights the birth of Bharata, whose lineage would name a nation. With mesmerizing choreography, soul-stirring music, and timeless themes of love, loyalty, and divine intervention, this show will be an unforgettable cultural experience for all dance lovers and indeed, all lovers of epic storytelling.
Please stay tuned! With your help, we’ll make this another memorable, sold-out and spectacular event for all of New England, while helping to raise much needed funds to support the visually impaired in India!
ENGLISH NARRATION AND SUBTITLES WILL MAKE THE SHOW ACCESSIBLE AND ENJOYABLE FOR ALL!
