AID Boston Presents Indian Ocean’s 35th Anniversary “Celebration Tour” in Boston

Live at Somerville Theatre on May 16 | Featuring Opening Act Janani Sharma

AID Boston proudly presents Indian Ocean, India’s pioneering Indo-rock folk fusion band, live in concert at Somerville Theatre on Friday, May 16, 2025, as part of their highly anticipated U.S. tour, “The Celebration Tour – 35 Years of Magic, Music, and Memories.” This milestone performance honors the band’s incredible 35-year legacy of pushing musical boundaries and creating a genre-defining sound that fuses Indian classical and folk traditions with rock, jazz, sufi and world music. Widely regarded as one of the most original and influential acts in Indian music history, Indian Ocean continues to inspire generations with their soul-stirring compositions and electrifying live shows.

Opening the evening is Boston’s own Janani Sharma, a rising Grammy nominated vocalist and producer whose voice and stage presence reflect both artistic grace and contemporary energy. Her performance will set the tone for a night of musical richness and cultural resonance.

Indian Ocean has long been hailed as a pioneering force in India’s independent music scene, with a career spanning more than three decades. Their music has been featured in acclaimed films, concert halls, and global festivals, combining lyrical storytelling with powerful instrumentation that bridges the traditional and the modern.

Presented by AID Boston, this concert celebrates not only artistic excellence but also community spirit, with proceeds supporting grassroots development efforts in India. Please take a look at AID Boston’s website for the grassroots projects in India that will be supported from the proceeds of the concert. For music lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and long-time fans of the band, this is a rare opportunity to experience Indian Ocean live in an intimate and historic venue. The US tour promoters are Marvan Entertainment and Sneh Arts who have brought Indian Ocean to several cities like New York City, Denver, Seattle, New Jersey, Detroit, San Francisco, Hartford and our Boston tour.
