Meena Ravi Lakshmanan Girl Scout Gold Award Project

Press Release
03/06/2025

Meena Ravi Lakshmanan is currently a junior at Shrewsbury High School. As part of her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, she has worked on a creative initiative aimed at improving the hospital experience for oncology patients at the UMASS University Campus in Worcester.

For this project, she created 20 landscape paintings, along with several pieces from her high school's Art National Honors Society. These nature-themed paintings were designed to provide a calming and soothing atmosphere for patients. Due to infection control policies, she laminated and framed the artwork in plastic, ensuring they could be safely displayed.

The main focus of the project was the Oncology unit at UMASS University Campus. Several of the paintings have been hung in the Oncology family waiting room, and others have been placed in patient rooms to offer comfort during treatment. Her goal is to create a peaceful environment for patients facing difficult times, and would love to share this initiative with a wider audience.
