Press Release 03/05/2025 The
Indian Institutes of Technology Association of Greater New England (IIT AGNE)
hosted a successful fireside chat with Ashish Tiwari, a 2007 distinguished
alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, currently a Mason Fellow and Fulbright Scholar at
Harvard Kennedy School. Ashish shared his unique career journey and his
perspectives on leadership, technology, and public service. Ashish
has had a diverse and impactful career, transitioning from investment banking
at Lehman Brothers and Nomura to a distinguished career in the Indian Police
Service (IPS). In his role as a police officer, he introduced technology-driven
efficiencies such as email with electronic signatures, Enterprise Resource
Planning (ERP) for human resource management, and map-based software for force
deployment. "Ashish's
journey is a testament to the power of interdisciplinary thinking and the
ability to bring innovative solutions to complex problems," said Durriya
Doctor, President of IIT AGNE. Ashish
also shared his experiences in adaptive leadership, particularly in crisis
situations. He emphasized the importance of building relationships with the
public, media, and colleagues, and the need for "public
entrepreneurship" to drive innovation in public service. His
current research at Harvard Kennedy School focuses on AI, Digital Public
Infrastructure (DPI), and semiconductor advancements, all of which he believes
are critical for AI-led governance, economic growth, and national security. Ashish's
advice to new and recent graduates was to "figure out what you want to do,
and if it makes you happy. Know yourself and be willing to change along the
way." The
event was well-attended and received an enthusiastic response from the
audience, with several insightful questions and comments. IIT AGNE is proud to
have hosted this event and thanks Ashish Tiwari for sharing his valuable
insights and experiences. About
