Empowering Change: FIA-New England's International Women's Day Celebration 2024

In commemoration of International Women's Day on March 8th, FIA-New England orchestrated a transformative event echoing the theme "Empowering Change: A Call to Political Action." Moderated by Jyoti Singh, FIA Director, the celebration not only acknowledged the strides made by women but fervently urged increased female participation in the political arena.

 

Featured Panelists included Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos, Mellisa Goho (Rhode Island Education Department Board Member), Yoshita Singh (Chief United Nations and New York Correspondent for Press Trust of India - PTI), Maggie Lemay (Mrs. Continental World), Nemeira Lal (Undergraduate Student at Harvard University), Pratibha Goyal (Entrepreneur, Educator, Founder & Director of Lotus Learners Group of Schools), Saraswathi Muppanna (MD, Internal Medicine, Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep & Obesity Medicine Specialist), and Diana DiZoglio (State Auditor, Massachusetts).

 

Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos, an inspirational trailblazer, opened the forum with a passionate plea for heightened female engagement in politics. Matos emphasized breaking barriers to foster an inclusive political landscape and recognized the transformative impact women can have in shaping policies and driving societal change.

 

The event delved into a comprehensive range of topics, including Female Health Advocacy, where challenges and solutions in advocating for women's health rights and well-being were explored. Discussions on Discrimination in Healthcare Facilities addressed issues of bias and discrimination women face in healthcare settings, proposing strategies for improvement.
