Cultural Program: 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm

The theme for the 2024 Republic Day Mela is 'Chalachitram - Indian Cinema 110', in celebration of 110 years of Indian cinema, 1913 - 2023.

Since inception of Indian cinema in 1913, when Dadasaheb Phalke released Raja Harishchandra, Indian cinema has spread out in multiple branches through various film industries, including the much known Bollywood. Indian cinema is composed of multilingual and multi-ethnic film art.

As per IAGB President Tanu Phoenix, IAGB is ecstatic to be honoring 110 years of Indian Cinema in a meaningful & inclusive way by showcasing the following:

Stage performances (songs & dances) showcasing unique, crowd-pleasing performances such as dance medleys of old timeless classics / new chartbuster songs from movies in an Indian regional language or Hindi (Bollywood) cinema.

Tanu Phoenix says, “I feel so fortunate that quite a few of our super talented regional organizations will be joining us to showcase the regional cinematic journey of their Indian states of origin!”

  1. Bangla O Biswa
  2. Maheshwari Mahasabha of North America
  3. New England Kannada Koota (NEKK)
  4. New England Malayalee Association (NEMA)
  5. Odisha Society of New England (OSNE)
  6. Prabasi of New England
