Global Peace Secretariat pays tribute to former First Lady Mrs. Rosalynn Carter

As the world bids farewell to former First Lady Mrs. Rosalynn Carter, Global Peace Secretariat would like to say " hat's off" to Mrs. Carter's decades of work with women's rights and mental health. 

Mrs. Carter was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Mental Health for her work in removing stigma of mental health and honored by the National Organization for Women with an Award of Merit for her vigorous support for the Equal Rights Amendment.

Mrs. Rosalynn Carter was the first First Lady to sit in on the President's Cabinet meetings on invitation of the President and established the Office of the First Lady in the East Wing. 

TIME magazine famously called Mrs. Carter  the "Steel Magnolia" for having a fragile and feminine appearance that concealed a "tough as nails" interior.

' I had the distinct honor of being invited to a 'High Heels & Hard Hats' gala (2018) of Habitat for Humanity of which President and Mrs. Rosalyn Carter were hands on construction volunteers via the Carter Work Project, building over 4000 homes for the needy in 14 countries .'.....Miss Gupta.

President and Mrs. Carter being tireless advocates for social justice and human rights, Global Peace Secretariat has been in touch with Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University in offering of the free course on non violent communicating in everyday living based on Mahatma Gandhi's message of non violence.

" Having grown up in Kuwait my whole childhood, I saw the Iran hostage unfold up close and it was incredible to see President Carter's efforts in freeing them, for which he got the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 " ... 2023 Nobel Peace Prize Nominee and Global Peace Secretariat Secretary General Miss Kumu Gupta.

* Kumu Gupta is 2024 Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation's Citizen Honor's Award ' Service Act ' Nominee for work in global peace.
