Tara Anand, director of the Anubhava School of Music and Sridevi, director of the Natyamani school of dance collaborated to present “Trinity” where senior students of Sridevi danced to the music performed by the senior students of Tara Anand. The presentation was a sheer delight to watch. The event was held on July 30 at the Keefe Technical High School.

With an aim to present the core classical elements of Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music, the team decided to present the works of the Carnatic Trinity - Thyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshitar and Shyama Shastri. An add-on of Swathi Tirunal’s composition was made to round off the presentation. The directors emphasized that when the musicians and dancers can interact and create a presentation, one can understand the nuances of the pieces and the end result is very enjoyable.

Several compositions of Thyagaraja including Brovabarama Jagadanandakaraka were presented. The group choreography of all the pieces was nothing short of brilliant. The myriad of sancharis were presented in a crisp clear manner. The sanchari for the Shri Krishna Tulabharam was particularly innovative in the way the Tulabaram or the balance was presented. In the piece “Ananda Natana Prakasham” of Muthuswamy Dikshitar the creative use of the Nandi Chol added a beautiful touch to the piece. The teachers allowed the musicians to showcase their Manodharma with alapanai, neraval and swarams at different places. Beautiful MCeeing by Janani and Anita kept the event tied together. The classical music of these maestros is incomparable and the rasanubhava you get when such an event is well executed as Trinity was truly at its finest.

The musical ensemble featured Srivatsan Raghavan, Yash Ravish, Utsavi James and Medha Jayendran as vocalists. Sadhana Venkatesh played the violin brilliantly. Sudarshan Thirumalai played the mridangam while Tarun Bangalore played the Kanjira. The dance ensemble featured Amrita Thirumalai, Sindhu Anandaraj, Shrinidhi Jeyaram, Sanjana Srinivas, Janya Ramachandran, Kaveri Krishnamoorthy, Diya Karthick, Janani Ganesh, Shreya Devarajan, Sanjana Venkateshwaran, Aditi Narayan and Aditi Rajesh.

Kudos to Tara Anand and Sridevi Thirumalai for creating such dedicated and talented artists who seem to be passionate about the arts. It was a delight to watch the joy and pride  on Nattuvanar  as she conducted the ensemble. Tara was seated at the back supporting the musicians. She also was beaming with pride and joy. New England should be proud to have such amazing teachers amongst us. We look forward to the next production.
