The gathering took place on June 21st, which is recognized as the International Day of Yoga, as declared by the UN General Assembly in 2014. This day holds importance as it promotes unity and well-being worldwide, with its origins rooted in India. Recognizing this significance, the group reconvened at 1 Shipyard Park to conduct a public yoga session led by Harvard renowned Dr. Dinesh Patel and yoga teacher Shri Sudhir Parikh. The inclusion of yoga in the event further emphasized the message of unity and well-being.

The diverse participants actively engaged in the yoga session, with some individuals using their own yoga mats, and even seniors joining from their chairs. The event fostered a sense of community and celebrated Indian culture, promoting the values of volunteerism, family, and a love for both America and India that are often associated with the Indian-American diaspora.

The welcoming ceremony included various forms of expression, such as placards, signs, slogans, and an airplane carrying a banner with a welcoming message. The use of land, sea, and air to extend the welcome to Prime Minister Modi symbolized the comprehensive support and cooperation between the two nations.

After the event in Charlestown, some attendees proceeded to catch flights to Washington, DC, to join the formal welcoming ceremonies at the White House lawns the following day. The Indian-American diaspora's contribution to the American mosaic of immigrant communities has been notable, attributed to their work ethic, civic sense, volunteerism, and strong ties to both America and India.
