North South Foundation (NorthSouth) has been conducting educational bees across nearly 90 chapters in the US. In 2019, NorthSouth celebrated it’s 30^th anniversary during the National Finals conducted at MIT where over 4500 contestants and their families attended the event. When the pandemic hit in 2020, NorthSouth shifted it’s contests to online mode for 3 years and we are happy to be back, conducting the contests onsite in 2023!

In Massachusetts, the Worcester chapter contests were conducted on Sunday, April 23^rd at Fitchburg State University. Under the leadership of our new Chapter Director, Shylaja Narayanaswamy and our veteran Technical Director, Dr. Meledath Govindan, 140 students registered for Spelling, Math, Geography, Science and Vocabulary bees. “It is great to see all NorthSouth family of volunteers again” said Latha Narayan, a long time volunteer at NorthSouth, a feeling shared by many familiar faces that filled the judges room, prepping for the contests!

While the students were busy with the contests, NorthSouth MA offered seminars for the waiting parents. Dr. Anil Saigal, Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tufts School of Engineering conducts a talk about the College Admission process, to a packed room of eager parents!

Dr. Hema Embar, an Ayurvedic Practitioner conducted a talk about Managing Stress, Improve health & Wellbeing with Ayurveda – a much needed topic as many faced stressful and challenging situations during the Pandemic.

Both seminars were well received and greatly appreciated by the parents!
