The New England Tamil Sangam hosted a grand cultural extravaganza at the Whitcomb Middle Schools in Marlborough, MA. The event showcased a variety of talents including dance, music skits, comedy game show and a special presentation by Tamil Comedian Aadhavan.

The rich cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu including classical, folk and Kollywood music and dance was presented. Parai Isai, a very traditional folk music that is played on a special drum with folk steps that are unique to the Tamil traditions was presented by a team that has focused on this art form.

A section of the presentation was dedicated to Skits, It was heartwarming to see young children attending Shishu Bharati speak beautiful Tamil and present a wonderful skit under the direction of Dr. Uma Nellaiappan. The emcees including young Harini Magesh impressed the audience with their beautiful narrations.

Comedian Aadhavan applauded the talent he saw at the event. “To see Tamil culture being preserved and promoted in such a beautiful manner indeed deserves great praise” said the actor. He had everyone laughing especially with his mimicry that he is well known for. He also hosted a cute “Best Couple “ game show that was put forth with a lot of humor.

A fabulous traditional Banana Leaf dinner was a lovely addition to the evening. Boston alaap concluded the showcase with a spectacular musical extravaganza.

Kudos to the NETS committee under the leadership of President Rajendra Kumaravel to put together a lovely event . Check out their website at https://www.netamilsangam.org/
