Global Peace Secretariat To Host Pre Parliament Virtual Event

Global Peace Secretariat will be hosting a virtual 'In Conversations with' on January 21st 11-12 pm EST on the occasion of 75th Anniversary Martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi (January 30th) & 73rd India's Republic Day (January 26).  The program is an official pre-Parliament event and hosted in support of the upcoming 2023 Parliament of the World's Religions.


The program kicks of with 'Vaishnav Jan to' Gandhi ji's favorite bhajan (spiritual song) on violin by Arun Saigal, Conductor of San Francisco Civic Symphony and is followed by a conversation with authors of Pathways of Global Transformation: Conversations with Bapu, Dr. Vedabhyas Kundu (Gandhi Smriti) and Ms. Munazah Shah Sr. News Anchor (India). 


The audience then heard from Demitrius Barksdale , a student of the U.S. State Department Gandhi-King Exchange Initiative 's inaugural batch, from University of Alabama for whom this book was written and gifted to during their recent visit to Gandhi Smriti in New Delhi, India.


As we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Martyrdom of Mahatma Gandhi,  the life and message of the Mahatma have become significant and the values he espoused need to be assimilated and practiced in a real sense.  


Parliament of World's Religions hosted from August 14-18, 2023 at the McCormick Place Lakeside Center Convening will address the most urgent and critical global issue of our time: freedom, democracy and human right, celebrating 130 years of history in the city of Chicago. Parliament of World's Religions is the world’s largest, most diverse, and inclusive interfaith Convening of people of faith, spirituality, and goodwill organized by a 501(c)3 non-profit organization by the same name headquartered in the city of Chicago, boasting a historic legacy that dates back to the 1893 World’s Parliament of Religions.


'I feel a special connection to the Parliament of World Religions, where Swami Vivekananda gave his famous Chicago speech in 1893, as I have visited the home of his 'American mother' in Cambridge Massachusetts Sara Chapman Bull, until recently owned by my good friends Charles Ansbacher (October 5, 1942 – September 12, 2010)  Conductor & founder Boston Landmarks Orchestra and former Ambassador to Austria Swanee Hunt, where Swami ji stayed when in the US ' said Kumu Gupta Secretary General Global Peace Secretariat.
