19th Annual Boston Bhangra Competition

Press Release
12/08/2022

Balle Balle Balle!  It’s that time of the year again, and Boston Bhangra, Inc hosted their 19th annual Boston Bhangra Competition on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022.  Their past 18 competitions have all sold out, and were a phenomenal success!  They have consistently gotten the best bhangra teams in North America and Canada to come and compete in Boston.  This year was no different.

The Boston Bhangra Competition, or called BBC for short, was hosted on Saturday, December 3rd at the Strand Theatre in Boston.  The historic venue in downtown Boston adds a nice flair to the competition which is located at 543 Columbia Road in Boston.  The capacity is close to 1,400 people, and every seat was booked!  Boston Bhangra continues to showcase the phenomenal power of Bhangra in the community for almost 20 years!

This year, the competition had teams from all over the US, and Canada!  They had teams from California, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, New York, Michigan, Texas, Virginia, and Boston!  These teams have consistently done well in many competitions, and they once again made it difficult on the judges.  At the end of the day, only 3 teams could place:

1)     Nachi Jawani – Toronto, Canada

2)     Vancity Girls – Vancouver, Canada

3)     Ankhile Jawan – California, USA

If Bhangra teams weren’t enough, G Sidhu performed on stage at the end of the show that got the whole crowd going! It was an amazing performance by the best Bhangra singer in the USA!

Maya Indian Bar & Grill was the food vendor of choice as served snacks, dinner and drinks at the venue to help soothe the hungry bellies in the audience!

Overall, this was a huge year for the Boston Bhangra Competition, as they brought some of the best teams in their history to Boston this year to a historic new theatre, with a world renowned Bhangra singer!  They also have and will continue to air the show internationally via Chardikla TV which is the number one Punjabi station worldwide!! The tickets were very nominally priced between $20 to $40 so that everybody could enjoy the show!  This is very cheap for a show that will be highlighted with more than 4 hours of exciting bhangra!  Boston Bhangra really wants the community from all walks of life to enjoy the show.

E3UK, Maya Indian Bar & Grill, Granite and Chardikla TVare some of the bigger sponsors that have helped to make this show a reality.

If you missed it, be sure to check out the entire show on Chardikla TV!  Keep your calendars available for December 2nd, 2023 for our 20th anniversary!!!  For more information, visit www.bostonbhangra.com/bbc.  You can also e-mail: info@bostonbhangra.com, or call 617-448-2508 for more information.
