Bala Stotranjali

Press Release
12/02/2022

Bala Stotranjali

Sankara Healthcare Foundation, Anokhe Taare, and Sri Kamakoti Bhakti Kendra, in collaboration with Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America, presented a beautiful online program of stotras, mantras and a tableau of plays, on Sat Oct 29, 2022, at 11AM. This event was part of the Hindu Heritage Month celebrations.

The event started off with Shankh Naad and a beautiful rendering of a poem by Jaya Pandey, founder and moving force behind “Desi Mom’s Group”, a group of mothers whose children face special challenges. She appreciated the effort put in this endeavor by all the children and their families and asked anyone who was facing similar challenges to come forward and find support in this group.

Jaya Asthana then welcomed the audience, introduced the program and the emcee, Nitya Vishwanath, a sophomore in high school. Nitya expertly weaved the whole program together and introduced all the various acts.

First was a skit by the group Anokhe Taare, which is an inclusive kids’ ensemble. They presented “Dasaavatar”, a skit of Sri Vishnu’s ten Avatars. Children of varying abilities presented the ten different avatars, singing about each avatar (in Sanskrit) while enacting the avatar as well.  They were ably assisted by some of their siblings and families.

Next was a shloka recitation by Jay from Sri Kamakoti Bhakti Kendra. He recited “Ganesh Pancharatnam”, which means ‘Five Jewels’. This was written by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. He recited this stotram very beautifully and clearly.

The last segment of the program was a performance by the children from Sankara Healthcare Foundation’s “Medha” Sloka Class. Over fifteen children recited stotras and sang bhajan on different deities. A very admirable effort by the children.

Deepa Rajesh, a volunteer for “Medha”, gave the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts put in by all the children and their families as well as the organizers - Jaya Asthana and Munish Desai who helped with the technical aspects of this program.

This was a maiden effort to bring a community together by VHP of America. We hope that more kids can be included in the future for these events.
