AIM for Seva Presents Live Musical:

Ragas with Abby V

For Tenth Annual Donor Appreciation Event

The Boston Chapter of the All India Movement (AIM) for Seva is happy to announce a live musical performance this year after two years of virtual events due to Covid. We thank our donors for supporting us through these difficult times and look forward to seeing all of you in person on Saturday, 29th October 2022 at 4:30 PM at Regis College, 235 Wellesley St, Weston, MA 02493.

We are delighted to resume our live programming with Ragas with Abby V, an evening of Hindustani and Classical ragas and popular film songs in Hindi and Tamil. Abby is a young musical genius from Canada whose recording of 73 Carnatic and Hindustani ragas in 14 minutes has received millions of online views. He has won several prizes at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana and from Mumbai’s Shanmukhananda Sabha in multiple categories, including Best Senior Vocalist. He sings pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Hindi and Tamil film songs, Ghazals and Qawwali with equal ease. In 2019, he released a solo album, First of All, featuring eight original songs in English, Hindi and Tamil. In addition to being an award winning singer, he is also a songwriter and composer. Abby will sing ragas extempore in response to audience requests and will also sing with a few of our own local singers in an intimate, interactive format.

Established in 2000, AIM for Seva is a 501 (c) (3) registered non-profit organization that supports poor tribal and rural children in India to finish high-school education. Our mission is to transform rural India one child at a time. AIM for Seva pioneered the concept of Free Student Homes (FSH, called chatralaya in Hindi) to provide underprivileged rural children with lodging, nurturing care, nutritious meals, healthcare, after-school coaching and extra-curricular resources, thus enabling them to complete their high-school education. We have successfully reduced the drop-out rate among such children by 90%, and most have them have gone on to higher or vocational studies and gainful employment.

We now manage 101 FSHs, 8 schools and 6 healthcare facilities spread over 15 states, which support 9000 students from 2700 villages every year. Since 2013, the Boston chapter of AIM for Seva has raised over one million dollars from generous Boston area donors like you to build and run these facilities. Our Boston chapter has also adopted four FSHs in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala and provides all funding for their operating expenses.

AIM for Seva has been awarded the coveted Platinum Certificate

by GuideStar India, and the top rating of Four Stars (Exceptional) from Charity Navigator, USA for the fifth year in a row. We appeal to you to support this great cause—enabling underprivileged children to finish high school as a way of expressing gratitude for all the opportunities that education has opened for you and your own families.

Our goal this year is to raise funds to support 300 students, at $ 500 per child. We have pledges/donations from 160 sponsors so far and appeal to the Boston community to help us support another 140 children with your contributions. Please note that we do not sell tickets, instead we provide free passes to all donors. If a $500 sponsorship is not possible, we request you to donate at least $ 50 for meeting one student’s FSH expenses for about one month.

Seating begins at 4 PM, with snacks and social time before the program. Vegetarian dinner will be served for free after the program. For more information, please visit/contact:
