The Desai Foundation Celebrates 25 Years in Style!

The Desai Foundation celebrated 25 years of work on September 24, 2022 at their annual Lotus Festival event held at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Desai Foundation focuses on empowering women and children in rural India, particularly in the areas of livelihood, health, and menstrual equity. Nearly five million people have been directly impacted by The Desai Foundation’s work to date.

The Desai Foundation is also celebrating the Clinton Global Initiative’s recognition of their work, particularly the Heroes for Humanity Initiative which launched during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their Clinton Global Initiative commitment to action is an expansion of Heroes for Humanity with a goal to service two million more rural folks in year two of its operation.

The Lotus Festival 2022 was an opportunity to stylishly celebrate these amazing accomplishments. Guests enjoyed tours of the stadium, luxury gift bags, a whirl around a 360 video booth, and the pleasure of seeing six Super Bowl rings on display at the Stadium. Generous donors rose to the fundraising occasion with the spirited appeals of auctioneer CK Swett. One hundred percent of these benevolent donations will be used to fund The Desai Foundation’s programs and activities.

Among the esteemed guests at the Lotus Festival were Nina Davuluri, activist, filmmaker, actor, and entrepreneur, who first rose to fame when she became the first Indian American and South Asian to become Miss America in 2014, and Avanti Nagral, pop singer, content creator, and social activist, who brought the evening to a close with her soulful song. Their presence was fully appreciated and enjoyed by both guests and The Desai Foundation.

The future is bright for The Desai Foundation, and we look forward to another year of innovation and progress towards “a world in which everyone, no matter their circumstances, can create the life they want to lead.”

If you’d like to empower women and girls in rural communities in India, donations can be made at The Desai Foundation’s donations webpage.

If you are in NYC on October 12, join them for NYC’s premiere Diwali event, Diwali on the Hudson. Tickets may be purchased at Eventbrite.
