“True Civilization begins where the community holds hands and supports each other” (Kalaimangai Anbalagan).

AmudhaSri Dance School had yet another successful ‘Annual Day’ event. With more than 120 performers, ranging in ages from 4 to 40+, the event was an astounding conquest with mesmerizing performances by the participants.

“Natya Prasanna” Srimathi Kalaimangai Anbalagan, through her immense creativity and respect for Indian culture, conducted the ‘Annual Day’ event this year. She is honored to continue her passion for dance and owes it to her Guru, Vadivu Devi Pillai and Smt.Suryakala Chandrika Jeevananthan,Canada. Smt. Kalaimangai pursued her career as an IT employee but her passion for dance always had a special place in her heart. So, she pursued her passion for Indian classical dance by establishing AmudhaSri Dance school.

AmudhaSri Dance School also strongly believes in giving back to the community by contributing to fundraisers and institutions like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shrigurustan temple, Adyar Cancer Institute, Genesis Foundation, and Umass Pancreatic Cancer Research, and more. The dance school also was a part of the Vision Aid organization. This year, they raised funds for Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism at Grafton High School Auditorium.

The event opened with Puspanjali, followed by praising the incarnations of Vishnu (Dasavatharam) and progressed to dances devoted to Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna. The dancers portrayed devotion to the lords and their power through multiple well-choreographed dances. Collections of Thillanas, Varnams, Padams, Keertham, Javali, Krithis, Bhajans and Mangalams were woven together to present the progress and dedication of the dance school. The event itself concluded with an impactful finale, displaying all the dancers, from children to adults.

During this annual day recital event, Guru Smt. Kalaimangai was honored with a citation from the Honorable Governor of the State of Massachusetts, Mr. Charlie Baker and Lieutenant Governor of State Karyn E. Polito for the second time. The first being the citation from the 2019 Navashakthi production. The appreciation recognizes the teacher’s outstanding service in the field of performing arts. She was also bestowed the prestigious Power World Global Icon Award for "Excellence in Dance 2022.”

Amudhasri Dance School was also grateful to have been graced by the presence(s) of Robert B. Lancia, Maryann Lancia, Terri Rogers Ladka, Jeyanthi Ghatraju, Shefu Agarwal, and Abhishek Singh and for delivering an inspiring speech and motivating all the students.

In addition, representative Hannah Elizabeth Kane sent an inspiring message to the students of Amudhasri Dance School to motivate them. Once again, all the disciples are grateful for receiving all the support and thus performed their best on the big day.

This event would not have been possible without the commitment and hard work of several parent volunteers. And Photo Credits go to Krish Velmurugan, Anil Nair, and Mani Bakthavatsalam for beautifully capturing all the wonderful performances on stage.
